Ryan Smothers is a compassionate and engaging clinical social worker with nearly seven years of experience, specializing in grief and bereavement support. A lifelong learner, Ryan is deeply committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with empathy and respect.

He began his academic journey at Jacksonville State University, earning a Bachelor of Social Work in 2017, followed by a Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama in 2018. Ryan launched his career at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, where he currently serves as the primary coordinator for the in-school bereavement program. He became a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in 2019 and earned his LICSW in 2024 after completing over 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience. He is currently in the process of applying to a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program.

Ryan’s professional philosophy— “Every client, every time”—guides his client-centered approach. He strives to create a space of trust, acceptance, and support, meeting clients where they are and helping them build healthy, personalized coping strategies. Whether working with children, adolescents, or adults, Ryan’s goal is to ensure that every individual feels seen, heard, and empowered to grow.
